How do you price your wedding cakes?

Cakes are priced by the slice, based on the number of guests. The base cost for a wedding cake is the price per slice times the number of guests who attend the wedding. Many simple and elegant designs are included in the base cost, while other designs have additional costs because they require more time.

Do you offer custom cakes or do you work with pre-designed styles?

We offer custom cakes and pre-designed styles. Pre-designed styles are a great value and can be customized to the colors and style of your wedding, whereas custom cakes are entirely new and unique.

What is the advantage of serving wedding cake as the dessert at the reception?

The wedding cake is the visual centerpiece of the reception and serving it as the dessert is often more affordable than serving another dessert.

Does the price include the top tier of the cake?

If you would like to save the top tier, that is free. If you would prefer to have a fresh 6 inch anniversary cake, that is free. Either choice is a gift.

Do you offer private tastings or open house tastings?

We offer private tastings by appointment. You are welcome to select four or five flavors from the Menu to taste when we meet, so that you can get as close as possible to your favorites right away.

What are your tasting hours?

By appointment. We can meet during the week, days and evenings as well as many weekends, at your convenience.

How many cakes do you schedule for a typical weekend?

Three or fewer. We believe that everything about your wedding cake is important, so we carefully limit the number of commitments we accept. Each cake receives our full attention.

Will you work with the client’s florist to garnish the cake?

Yes we will help you coordinate fresh flowers for the wedding cake with your florist. Either we or your florist can style fresh flowers on your wedding cake, depending upon your preference.

What cake accessories do you rent out?

Round and square cake stands are available to rent to display your wedding cake.

Do you offer delivery? If so, how much is your delivery fee?

Yes we do deliver. The cost of delivery and set up of the wedding cake varies with the distance and the complexity of the set-up.

Do you have a minimum for wedding cakes?

Yes we have a minimum of 100 servings for wedding cakes. This is a 6 inch, 9 inch and 12 inch cake.

Can we have a small display cake and a sheet cake to save on the cost of the wedding cake?

We can make a display cake for 100 servings or more and the remaining servings can be discounted. This can provide a saving for larger weddings, but not so much for smaller weddings.

We would like to have 2 or 3 flavors of cake in the wedding cake. Is this possible?

Yes.

How do we cut the cake?

The cake cutting usually takes place while the guests are still seated after dinner. Standing to the side and the back of the wedding cake, the bride puts her hand on the handle of the knife and the groom places his hand over hers. Together they make the first cuts on the bottom tier of the cake, and they remove a small slice to a plate. Using a fork, the groom serves the bride first. She serves him second. This symbolizes the sweetness of their life together.

When should we reserve the date for our wedding cake?

As with all wedding services, reserving early will give you more choices. Many brides reserve a year or more in advance of the wedding and we also accept reservations closer to the wedding date if we have the time available. A deposit of $500.00 will reserve our time for your wedding date.

How do we get started in planning for our wedding cake?

Once you have reserved a reception location, please contact us by phone or email. We are happy to answer any questions you may have, including pricing. Then if you think we may be a good fit, we can set a date for a cake tasting and design appointment. At the meeting, we welcome your thoughts and ideas about the style and ambience of the wedding and any colors or theme you would like to incorporate. Then we can start to guide you though the design process.
